ASSE National Awards
 

Below is a description of all ASSE National Awards, along with an application form and/or list of requirements.

Board of Directors- Any ASSE member in good standing may be nominated up until the 1st Business Session Meeting at the ASSE Annual Meeting. Positions available for the 2007-2008 term are: Region 1 and Region 7 Directors, Treasurer and 1st, 2nd and 3rd Vice Presidents.

Henry B. Davis Award- "an annual merit award to...members who have contributed the most toward the advancement of sanitary engineering in accord with the ideals of the Society." The prestigious Henry B. Davis Award is named after a Past President and Founder of ASSE. The first award was given in 1949 in his honor. It is an award of merit and dedication to ASSE and NOT a popularity award. Each chapter should begin looking for a member to nominate who has outstanding characteristics and dedication to ASSE. This is a VERY SECRETIVE AWARD and it is important that the candidate, whose name you are submitting, not have knowledge of it. If you know a person like this, please send his/her qualifications to:

Nominations are due by July 31st of the current year, so that their is sufficient time for the committee to review them and send their recommendation to the Board of Directors for final approval before the Annual Meeting.

Dewey R. Dedrick Award- This award is presented to the chapter that has shown the best overall performance based on meetings, membership, management and promotion. The Dewey R. Dedrick Award form will be sent from the International Office to all Chapters by June 1st of the current year. All chapters must return the form to the International Office by July 1st of the current year to be eligible for the award.

Fellowship (FASSE) Award- "The candidate shall have been a dues paying member in good standing for a minimum of five (5) years. At the state or chapter level, the candidate shall have served in an exemplary manner as an Officer, Director or committee person for a period of not less than five (5) years. At the national level, the candidate shall have served in an exemplary manner as an Officer, Director or committee person for a period of not less than two years accomplishing outstanding achievement. Members-at-Large may be considered for Fellowship status by the committee if the candidate was a dues paying member in good standing for a minimum of five (5) years and served in an exemplary manner as a Society Officer, Director or committee person for a a period of not less than three (3) years." Nominations for the Fellowship Award must be submitted to Donald Reichartz, IPP, Chairman, 5181 N. Detrie Ct., Butler, WI 53007 by August 1st of the current year.

Highest Percentage Increase Award- This award is presented to the chapter with the highest percentage of new members between September 1 and August 31 of the current year.

James E. Lewis Award- This award is presented to the individual member who recruited the most new members between September 1 and August 31 of the current year. Nominations for the James E. Lewis Award must be submitted to the International Office by September 15th of the current year.

Most New Members Award- This award is presented to the chapter that recruited the most new members between September 1 and August 31 of the current year.

Patrick J. Higgins Award- This award is presented to a person who demonstrates both knowledge and support of voluntary, consensus standards and their adoption into code. Nominations must be submitted to the International Office by August 1st of the current year.

Salvatore J. Farruggia Presidential Award- The recipient is chosen by the outgoing International President and is presented to a person/s that has contributed to the success of that President's term.
