HAPPENINGS AT THE NORTHERN OHIO CHAPTER - May 2009
As your Northern Ohio Chapter President, I attended the Mid-year Board of Director’s Meeting at the Embassy Suites, in Independence. Many changes are being accomplished at the International Office, in Westlake, OH, under the direction of International President Richard Prospal.
At our last Chapter meeting in April, I had the pleasure of visiting with Ken Van Wagnen, our new Business Manager. Ken brings a wealth of business experience to our International ASSE organization. His efforts are already producing positive results in his short time on the job We are fortunate to have found Ken!
The International Board of ASSE will be presenting several By-Law changes to be voted on at our Annual Meeting in San Antonio, TX later on this September. The proposed By-Law changes will be printed in the International Newsletter, soon. I hope you will study these proposed changes and will contact me if you have any comments on the recommendations of the Board of Directors. I will then let your wishes be known at the Annual Meeting.
Congratulations to Ken Kerr on his election as 1st Vice President (President Elect) to the American Backflow Association. Ken’s experience as a past International President of ASSE will be invaluable to him when he assumes the duties of President of the ABPA.
The new ASSE 7000 Standard is now in print, and available. The Residential Sprinkler Standard will soon be in the new codes. You can contact the International Office to purchase copies at membership rates.
This year will be the initial offering of the Gerri Tesar Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the Northern Ohio Chapter. If you know of any candidate, please have them contact the International Office for a Scholarship Application Packet. The cut-off date for submitting applications is September 22, 2009.
ASSE, as an Organization, is on the move! Our influence in the industry, is evident in every facet of the plumbing industry. You can be very proud that you are a contributing member of this fine organization.
Lets have a good showing at the ASSE/ASPE Golf Outing, August 6, 2009 at Fowlers Mill Golf Course. Bring a friend or customer to this fine event.
